Public Safety Technologies

The Public Safety Technologies Department of DPS is comprised of three core units including ID Card Technologies, Security Technologies, and an Information Technology unit which centrally supports the Division. Services provided to the University community include ID card system oversight and production access control assignment/oversight, electronic door scheduling, intrusion and panic alarm installations, CCTV installations, electronic access control system installation, lock and key production and security surveys.

  • The RU Express and Meal Plan Office carding location in Records Hall, College Avenue Campus, will be open Monday – Friday, from 8:00am to 8:00pm during the first two weeks of the spring semester.  Effective Monday, February 8, 2016, the new hours of operation for the office will be 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.

  • Legacy UMDNJ ID Re-Carding Project Update: Phase II of the re-carding project has not yet been scheduled. Legacy ID cards will continue to work until the entire re-carding project is complete. We appreciate your patience. Please check back for updates on Phase II scheduling.

Important changes to the process of issuing RUConnection ID Cards to New Employees: Please be advised that due to new system requirements, all new employees must first be onboarded with an active appointment in HCM or Banner prior to being able to have a Rutgers ID card issued to them.

Legacy UMDNJ faculty, staff, and students will receive Rutgers branded ID cards in phases. Phase 1 of the mass distribution was completed in February 2014. Any legacy UMDNJ faculty, staff, or student that did not receive their ID card during phase 1 will continue to use their existing UMDNJ ID card to access legacy UMDNJ buildings and services until further notice. Information regarding phase 2 of the Rutgers branded ID card distribution will be available and communicated at a later date.
